But if the future histories of the supposed replica do not experience the same events as the original, then the artworks are not identical. It is highly unlikely, given the structure of the physical universe, that Currie’s super-Xeroxes of site-specific works will standardly weather in exactly the same way that the originals do. But since the weathering process can be an element of artistic attention in site-specific works, site-specific works are singular artworks, works that are not, in principle, multipliable in the known physical universe.
