This group is offered in blocks of ten weeks, each session lasts one hour and 15 minutes. A maximum of six dyads attend. Mothers or fathers with infants aged 18 to 30 months are offered the intervention. The parents have the option of alternating, but only one parent attends the group at a time. The art therapy intervention takes up the first half hour of the group, followed by free play, at which time the parents can share concerns and successes. Singing, book reading and a ‘rock-a-bye baby’ activity ends the session.

I began to suspect this through the anecdotal material from the parents. While following their child’s lead and using infantile art, some of the parents seemed to be gaining insight and appeared to be resolving their own issues.
