In the process, an indicating needle is deflected by an amount along a scale that is proportional to the current strength. An ideal representation of each type of measuring instruments is formed for a specific model of the objects—carriers of the corresponding physical quantity.

The fiducial value is assumed to be equal to the following: (i) The value at the end of the instrument scale, if the zero marker falls on the edge or off the scale. 3.
